ZESA Holdings (Pvt) Ltd is a Zimbabwean state-owned firm tasked with generating, transmitting, and distributing energy. It has delegated this
task to its subsidiaries, Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) and Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC).
Other subsidiaries are ZESA Enterprises (ZENT) whose mandate is to pursue non-regulated business activities that add value to the ZESA Group, especially the electricity supply chain. PowerTel Communications (Pvt) Ltd provides Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) services to the ZESA
Group and sells excess capacity to other external customers
ZESA Holdings manages the subsidiaries on behalf of the shareholder, the Government of Zimbabwe.
It provides general management requirements of the Group i.e. audit and financial support services, legal support, business planning, group communication and infrastructure security and reliability requirements. The company is the major player in the Zimbabwe power sector. It has 2,300MW installed generation capacity and about 10,000GWh annual energy sales. A well-developed electricity transmission grid spans across the country and operates at 330kV and 400kV
